| James Evans moved from Austin, where he worked as a freelance photographer, to Marathon in 1988 with the idea of documenting the Big Bend area and its inhabitants in an artistic way. In addition to numerous magazine commissions, his landscapes and portraits of the area and the unique people who live here have found their way into many photographic collections, both public and private. In 1992 he opened Evans Gallery to display his work as well as that of other photographers from the area and throughout the state. |
